The inaugural Little Story Feast Literary Festival took place at the British Library on 21st September 2025

Supported by Inclusive Books for Children, Little Story Feast's six interactive workshops are designed for children and families and promise to keep everyone entertained with storytelling, drawing and crafting - and even a sprinkling of music!

Little Story Feast's hour-long workshops were all hosted by ESEA authors, illustrators and publishing professionals, and include: I Am Me!, Animals & Our Planet, Portals & Other Worlds, Yummy In My Tummy, Dynamic Duos and Family & Home.

This year, Little Story Feast's country of focus is Vietnam, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Vietnam and the end of the Vietnam war. Chi Thai, Vietnamese filmmaker and author of The Endless Sea, alongside Walker Books designer, Nghiem Ta, in the Family & Home workshop, shared their refugee experiences and the creative process behind this deeply personal and moving story.

On the 50th anniversary of the fall of Saigon

This year marks the end of the American War in Vietnam and we are proud to highlight the British Vietnamese literary community in both our Story Feast and Little Story Feast festivals.

Among our speakers of Vietnamese heritage are film-maker Chi Thai, who has published her first picture book The Endless Sea, gorgeously illustrated by Linh Dao, based on Chi’s own childhood experience on a refugee boat.

Appearing in Story Feast at SOAS is Chi Thai’s close collaborator, art director Nghiem Ta who also arrived in the UK as a boat refugee.

Loan Tran is a memoirist whose father was part of the BBC World Service team that covered the end of the war. Delivering a keynote is actress, playwright and novelist Tuyền Đỗ, whose play Summer Rolls was the first British Vietnamese play to be staged in the UK, the novel of which has been published by Hachette.
